Having children who
grow up healthy, smart, and successful in Duania and the hereafter is certainly
the dream of every parent. Therefore, parents will try their best so that their
children can achieve their goals. In addition to providing material and
non-material support, don't forget to pray for the children to be successful in
this world and the hereafter.
The Messenger of Allah
taught that prayer is the main weapon of a Muslim. Moreover, the prayers of
Father and Mother are one of the most efficacious prayers in the sight of Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
6 Prayers for Children
to Succeed in this World and the Hereafter. Here is a prayer that parents can
read for their child's success in this world and the hereafter.
1.
Prayer for attaining good character
Everything starts with
you. The secret to attaining success is to purify the soul and have good
character before anything else.
Allahumma inni a’uzu-bika min munkaratil-akhlaq,
wal-a’mal, wal-ahwa’
“O Allah! I seek refuge in You from
undesirable manners, deeds, and aspirations”
(Sunan
At-Tirmizi)
The Prophet s.a.w. tells
us the importance of good character in the hadith “There is nothing which will be put on
the believer’s scale (on the Day of Resurrection) that is heavier than good
morals.” (Sunan At-Tirmizi)
This is
particularly mentioned in the Quran:
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا وَ قَدْ خَابَ مَنْ دَسَّٮهَا
“Successful indeed is the one who purifies their
soul, and the one who corrupts it fails.”
(Surah
Ash-Shams, 91:9-10)
One can become the most
successful person in this world, or have abundant wealth and yet does not
achieve the bigger success in life. It all boils down to your attitude towards
yourself, your goals and the people around you.
2.
Prayer for triumph against adversity
Pregnancy is by far the
most beautiful experience mothers go through. It’s rather extraordinary and a
blessing for a woman to give birth to another life. Nevertheless, it also has
its tough moments. The Prophet s.a.w. taught his beloved daughter Sayyidah
Fatimah Az-Zahra Radiyallahu Anhu. a supplication to recite during extreme pain
or trouble.
“O The Ever-Living, O The
Self-Subsisting, I seek help through Your Mercy. Set right
all my affairs and do not leave me to
myself even for the blinking
of an eye (i.e. a moment).”
(Sunan
An-Nasai’)
3.
Prayer for their health and protection
U’izukuma
bikalimatil-lahit-tammati min kulli shaytanin wa hammah, wa min kulli ‘ainin
lammah.
“I seek protection for
you in the Perfect Words of Allah from every devil and every beast, and from
every envious blameworthy eye.”
While Allah rewards us
as parents for our hardships and sacrifices, he has emphasised the rights of
children so it is important that we honour our children in a way pleasing to
Allah. . One of the rights of children, is that their parents teach them the
way of Islam and pray for them to always be on the straight path. May Allah
allow us to reap the blessings and rewards of parenthood, may He make our
children the coolness of our eyes and may He reward every person who has lost a
child or prays to be blessed with children tenfold for their patience and
perseverance.

example from them. Now, Parents can imitate the prayer of the Prophet Ibrahim
enshrined in the following kalamullah.
Meaning: “Our Lord,
make us both obedient to You and (make) among our children and grandchildren a
people who submit to You and show us the ways and places of our pilgrimage, and
accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Most Accepting of repentance, Most
Merciful.” (Al-Baqarah:128)
